Antioquia – Ebejico Project
18 women producers associated with Almacafé and the Cooporativa Occidental de Antioquia
This region was the scene of illegal coca cultivation for years, but thanks to international cooperation and government subsidies many families have converted their production to coffee.
Many of these producers are women, emancipated mothers of families who run their own businesses. Eighteen of these have joined in 2019 and meet weekly to discuss the topic of quality and sustainable processing on the plantation.
San Alberto
28 women associated with the Equipo de Mujeras Rurales de San Alberto
The EMURSA association was founded in 2015 in a small village in the province of Toledo, northeastern Colombia.
Founded by 22 women today it has 25 plots of land used for growing grains, fruits and coffee. Located more than an 8-hour drive from the nearest city, the village has no access to chemical fertilizers and everything they need to grow is naturally sourced, so much so that they are in the process of achieving Organic certification.
