The cooperative is situated on one of the highest and most picturesque hills of Nandi in the Rift Valley.
Operating for many decades in the coffee production sector in 2010, Kapkiyai began receiving support from the “Coffee Initiative,” which provides for increased training in agronomy, cooperative management and the wet mill. All of this has emphasized gender inclusion in the coffee industry. As time passed, Kapkiyai’s management began to see what the potential of women in the cooperative really was.
“Women are the ones who take care of the children, the ones who work on the farms, and the ones who bring the coffee down the hills to the cooperative for processing. It was time for them to be involved in sales.” , said President David Saina.
